About

Shipwrecks are some of Canada's most interesting historical artifacts. Yet they remain out of reach for most people, sunk below the waves of the Great Lakes. The Great Lakes Museum wants to help make these artifacts more accessible to you through this virtual exhibition, called "Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes".

This virtual exhibition helps you explore a few of the thousands of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes and was created with the help of divers and archaeologists who work to preserve Canada's shipwrecks for future generations.

You can also go on a virtual dive to a real shipwreck off the shore of Kingston, Ontario. Once there, you will gather clues to learn how to spot parts of the wreck.

This online project was developed with the support of the Digital Museums Canada investment program. Digital Museums Canada is managed by the Canadian Museum of History, with the financial support of the Government of Canada.
